WHAT IS KINESIOLOGY?
As a truly holistic therapy, Kinesiology combines the wisdom and healing of Eastern and Western techniques to restore balance and increase energy flow to all parts of the body. Drawing support from the Chinese system of acupuncture as well as Chiropractic theory, its effective results come from the way it works with the body’s innate healing ability.
Kinesiology looks at the individual as a whole and unique being and understands that to achieve homeostasis, a state of equilibrium, we need physical, emotional, mental and spiritual facets of our being to be in balance.
When was Kinesiology developed?
Kinesiology was founded in the early 1960’s by Dr George Goodheart DC, an American chiropractor who discovered that muscle testing could be used to gather information about the body. His system, known as ‘Applied Kinesiology,’ embraced Chinese medicine including acupuncture and meridian systems.
In recent years, Kinesiology has become one of the fastest growing complementary therapies and has evolved into an outstanding health care system now practised in over 100 countries.
How does Kinesiology work?
Kinesiology uses the gentle art of muscle monitoring or ‘muscle testing’ to identify factors or stress that may be linked to energy imbalances in the body. By applying a range of gentle, yet powerful healing techniques, it improves health, wellbeing and vitality to the body.
Muscle monitoring is a natural feedback system which receives information via nerve pathways and the meridian system of the brain and body. Having access to this system allows a Kinesiologist to quickly determine a specific technique or strategy to return the body to a balanced state.
Kinesiology does not treat named diseases, nor does it diagnose them. Instead, it looks at the body’s imbalances and facilitates the flow of energy to begin the process of healing.
The Australian Kinesiology Association describes that the body has innate intelligence and is very much aware of what it needs to heal. "What Kinesiology is able to do in a therapeutic sense, is to facilitate that information in order to aid that potent, profound
and natural healing process.”
What results can I get with Kinesiology?
Profound changes for people of all ages may be experienced emotionally, mentally and physically with kinesiology, whilst enhancing an individual’s wellbeing and quality of life.
What is the goal of a Kinesiology 'balance'?
“The real goal of any Kinesiology 'balance' is to identify the bottomline cause of any imbalance and then resolve it. It may be nutritional, emotional, structural, psychological, energetic or even spiritual – something as simple as an ‘attitude’, or a forgotten memory.”
